BOWDI has been working with UNHCR on the Prevention, Risk mitigation, and multi-sectoral Response to Gender-based violence (GBV)" which is a UNHCR and BOWDI initiative to improve the protection of affected people of concern, restore human dignity and reduce suffering and disruption of Nigerian populations living in targeted LGAs Multi-sectoral Response Plan (MSRP) objectives for the Nigeria Context operations, currently implementing in Maiduguri, Bama, Banki, Ngala, Mubi (North and South), Yola (North and South) and Fufore. BOWDI also has a previous history of implementing the same projects in the intended expansion locations- Gwoza and Damasak. Assessments have also been conducted by BOWDI, UNHCR, and its partners in Jere (Borno), Michika, and Madagali (Adamawa) with recommendations for further expansions to these
locations. Similarly, BOWDI has established a relationship from previous work in Yobe and looks forward to extending to Gujba, Geidam, and Monguno within the scope of the project target areas. BOWDI from its experience with UNHCR has vast competence in managing UNHCR projects in compliance with UNHCR strategies, principles guiding respective donor agencies, partnership policies, and code of conduct by ensuring credibility, integrity, and accountability. In the same vein, BOWDI has gained technical expertise through capacity strengthening and direct mentorship from UNHCR on Protection, GBV, Prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse, IASC standards, Code of conduct as well as other key areas relevant to include community-based and community-owned models to problem-solving which is a great advantage for the proposed program.
